Students Voluntary Service
Our Foundation is a local coordinator of Students Voluntary Service (in Staszów Region) since 2005. Since May 2006 we are also Local Informational Point of the program. Students Voluntary Service is financed by Polish-American Freedom Foundation and realized by KLANZA – The Polish Educators and Animators Association in Lublin.
The idea is simple – volunteers who want to sacrifice some of their time to work with children find a placement - a school or a children club- where the students are realizing their own educational project. There are Summer Projects in the summer which are 7-days-long educational projects. It could be games and playing or f.e. dance lessons. The institution which invites the students give them accommodation and food. During school months the Systematic Projects are possible, which are meetings organized once a week for several weeks.
First projects in our region took place in July 2005 in Sielec, last year we organized some activities in several places in the region (Schools in Staszów, Sielec and Wiśniowa). Not only we invite the volunteers, but we also help looking for other hosting institutions in the country which can invite them.
This project gives satisfaction for children and the volunteers, helps everyone to get on with the others and for the students to try another role – an animator and educator. It helps also to gain new friends and give each other some cordiality.
